Emergency Dentistry
WHAT IS EMERGENCY DENTISTRY?
A dental emergency is not the moment for a waiting list. We make sure you are seen today.
Dental emergencies are unpredictable, often painful, and almost always worse when addressed late rather than promptly. At LUMI Dental in Boca Raton, we reserve same-day appointment capacity for patients experiencing acute dental pain, trauma, or infection because we understand that urgent situations demand urgent access to qualified care. When you call our office with a dental emergency, we assess your situation immediately, schedule you at the earliest possible time, and guide you on managing your condition safely until you arrive.
Emergency dental care at LUMI Dental is not triage performed by a rotating urgent care provider. It is a focused, thorough clinical appointment delivered by the same team that manages your ongoing dental health, with the same diagnostic standards, the same communication quality, and the same commitment to your long-term wellbeing that defines every other aspect of our practice. We treat the emergency, explain what caused it, and ensure you leave with a clear diagnosis, a clear treatment plan, and a clear next step.
BENEFITS OF EMERGENCY DENTISTRY
- Same day appointments reserved daily for patients with acute dental emergencies.
- Phone guidance provided immediately so you can manage your situation safely before arriving.
- Accurate diagnosis, not just symptom management, at every emergency visit.
- Most emergencies are both diagnosed and meaningfully treated at the same appointment.
- New patients experiencing emergencies are always welcome.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT DURING A EMERGENCY DENTISTRY TREATMENT?
When you contact LUMI Dental with an emergency, we gather the key clinical information over the phone and schedule you promptly. We provide guidance on what to do and what to avoid while you wait. At your appointment, we perform a focused clinical evaluation, take any necessary imaging, and explain our findings in plain language before any treatment proceeds. You are never left guessing about what is happening or what comes next. Most emergency visits conclude with both immediate treatment and a clear plan for any required follow-up care.
OUR APPROACH TO EMERGENCY DENTISTRY
At LUMI Dental, emergency care reflects the same values that define all of our patient interactions: clinical seriousness, honest communication, and genuine concern for the person in front of us. A patient in acute pain or distress deserves to feel heard, accurately assessed, and treated with the same quality of care as any planned appointment. Our schedule is built to make same day access a reliable reality, not an occasional exception.

Your smile deserves attention today, not tomorrow.

What constitutes a dental emergency?
Severe toothache, a knocked out or fractured tooth, a lost crown or filling causing pain, significant swelling, a suspected abscess, and soft tissue injuries all qualify. If you are unsure, call us and we will help you determine how urgently you need to be seen.
What should I do if a tooth is knocked out?
Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root. Rinse gently without scrubbing. Store it in milk or your own saliva and contact us immediately. Reimplantation is most successful when addressed within 30 to 60 minutes.
Should I go to the emergency room or a dental office?
A dental office is appropriate for most dental emergencies. If you have significant facial swelling affecting breathing or swallowing, or a high fever with a dental infection, seek emergency medical care immediately.
Can I receive emergency care as a new patient?
Absolutely. We welcome new patients experiencing emergencies. Call our office and we will gather the relevant information and prepare for your arrival.
What if my emergency happens after hours?
Contact our office and follow the instructions on our after hours message. For life threatening symptoms such as difficulty breathing or swallowing from a spreading infection, go to the nearest emergency room immediately.
